Kampala’s brunch culture is getting another spin of the cassette.
The Mixtape: Bottomless Brunch returns for its second edition on October 31, promising a day that starts with food and conversation before gradually turning up the music and carrying guests into the evening.
Set at Tehila’s Café & Grill on Yusuf Lule Road, the experience begins at 11am and runs till late, built around the playful idea of “Two Sides, One Destination.”
The concept borrows from the old-school cassette mixtape, where flipping from Side A to Side B meant moving from one mood or sound to another.
Here, the same idea is being translated into a social experience — bringing together brunch, music, nostalgia and entertainment under one roof.
And while the word “brunch” often suggests a few hours of daytime dining, The Mixtape is positioning itself as something longer.
Guests can arrive late in the morning, settle into the food and social atmosphere, spend the afternoon catching up with friends and gradually transition into the evening without having to leave the venue.
The nostalgia is also built into the event’s visual identity.
Cassette tapes, vintage radios and retro-inspired artwork feature prominently, giving the experience an old-school personality while placing it firmly within Kampala’s increasingly popular brunch scene.
For its second edition, The Mixtape is building on the concept introduced in its first chapter, creating another opportunity for Kampala’s daytime crowd to eat, drink, listen to music and socialise before the night takes over.
The pricing also rewards those who plan ahead.
Pre-booked tickets go for UGX 165,000, while guests paying at the gate will part with UGX 190,000.
The difference is a small incentive for those who would rather secure their places early than leave their plans to the last minute.
More broadly, The Mixtape reflects a shift in Kampala’s entertainment culture, where the traditional night out is increasingly being joined by daytime experiences that stretch across several hours.
Brunches, garden parties and day-to-night events are giving revellers new ways to spend their weekends and The Mixtape is leaning directly into that movement.
There is no rush to go home after lunch. There is no need to wait for darkness before the fun begins.
On October 31, the cassette gets another spin.
