Ten years after Kibun’omu introduced many listeners to his distinctive sound, Kenneth Mugabi is bringing the music, memories and people who have journeyed with him together for one special night.
This Saturday, September 12, Mugabi takes over Ndere Cultural Centre for a concert that will celebrate a decade of Kibun’omu while doubling as a birthday celebration for the soulful singer.
Powered by V&A Sherry, the evening is set to be as much about the fans as it is about the man on stage a chance to revisit the songs that have soundtracked a decade of Mugabi’s career while creating new memories along the way.
Speaking ahead of the concert, Roy Ronald Tumwizere, Brand Manager for V&A Sherry, said the occasion is an easy one to look forward to.
“If there is anyone ready to entertain, it is Kenneth Mugabi. As V&A, we are proud to be part of this 10-year journey, but for me, this is also personal because I am a fan of his music. There is something special about seeing an artist reach this point and still have people who want to sing along to the songs that have been part of their lives,” he said.
Fans can expect some of Mugabi’s most loved songs, including Sanyu, Nkwengomba and Naki, among others music that has travelled far beyond the stage and found its way into playlists, memories and quiet moments.
Then there is the mystery.
Mugabi has promised a surprise appearance from an East African music legend, but the identity of the guest remains under wraps. For fans, that secret alone could make being in the room more exciting than waiting for clips to surface online afterwards.
