New Venue, Same Vibe: Old School Soirée Keeps Redefining Retro Nights

When a Kampala favourite moves to a new venue, it either grows or fizzles. On August 2nd, 2025, Old School Soirée by Camelot Concepts didn’t just grow but exploded into a whole new phenomenon

After more than a year of dancing back in time at Tapas Gastro Bar in Ntinda, the event found a fresh home at The Alchemist Bar & Kitchen in Bugolobi. This wasn’t just a location change. It was a level-up.

As the sun dipped behind Bandali Rise, the atmosphere started to swell. The venue, known for its sleek vibe and layout, quickly filled with an eager, well-dressed crowd ready to relive the magic of R&B, hip-hop, funk, and dancehall. The warm-up didn’t take long. By 7 PM, the dancefloor was already alive.

DJ Bugy stepped up at the turn of dark, instantly lighting the fuse with a set that hit deep into the feels. From Blu 3 to Ragga Dee, and those early Radio & Weasel anthems, his playlist danced between millennial memories and Gen Z discoveries. He didn’t just play music; he guided a crowd across decades of Ugandan soundtracks.

Then came DJ Ssese, the heartbeat of Ssese Nation, who made it known why his rising DJ conglomerate members are the most booked entertainers in the region. His transitions were seamless, his selections daring, and his delivery bold. Every track summoned roars, and every drop invited movement.

Not to be outdone, DJ Kasbaby also schooled the revellers on how to party like it’s both 1999 and 2025. He reminded Kampala why this city never sleeps when the vibe is right.

What made the night unforgettable wasn’t just the music or the venue; it was the feeling. The a sense that this was more than an event. It was a reunion. A celebration of identity. A toast to good times past, present, and future. For now, you can look forward to the next edition of the Old School Soirée next month since the event happens monthly.
